High potential and gifted education
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

What is high potential and gifted education?
High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.

Blacktown Festival of Performing Arts
Continuing a proud tradition, Blacktown South Public School offers students the chance to showcase their talents through the Annual Blacktown Festival of Performing Arts.
Each year, our students proudly participate in the Combined Schools Choir as well as perform as part of our dedicated Performance Troupe. These experiences provide an excellent opportunity for students to develop their performing arts skills and engage in high-potential and gifted education programs.
Chess Club
At Blacktown South, students have the opportunity to develop valuable skills through the game of chess—a strategic board game that enhances problem-solving abilities and higher-order thinking.
Our stage-based competitions provide students with the chance to apply their newly acquired skills in a variety of settings and against diverse opponents, fostering both confidence and critical thinking.
Combined Schools Musical
Blacktown South proudly participates in this statewide event where primary and secondary schools across New South Wales come together to celebrate excellence in the performing arts.
Students benefit from expert choreography and carefully selected musical scores, highlighting the creative talents nurtured through our Gifted and High Performance Education (HPGE) program. This experience supports the development of skills essential to creative expression and artistic achievement.
